ANNUAL TREE & SHRUB SEEDLING PROGRAM

2007 ORDER FORM

The Niagara County Soil & Water Conservation District provides a local link to nurseries for the purchase of various conservation items. An annual sale of deciduous and evergreen tree seedlings and transplants, shrubs, ground covers and grasses has been established to assist landowners with the establishment of conservation areas and the restoration of natural resources. Each spring, we package and distribute approximately 85,000 seedlings to provide landowners with economical plant materials for windbreaks, to establish wildlife food and habitat areas, for reforestation and to prevent soil erosion.

REMEMBER…

Trees supply the oxygen we need to breathe. They keep our air supply fresh by absorbing the carbon dioxide that we exhale and also that which is emitted by factories and engines. Trees camouflage unsightly scenes and break the monotony of endless highways, lawns and sidewalks.  Trees are natural air conditioners.  They lower our air temperatures by evaporating water in their leaves. Trees trap and filter out dust and pollen on their hairy leaf surfaces. Trees cut down noise pollution and provide us with color, flowers and beautiful shapes.  Trees shelter us from direct sunlight on hot sunny days.  Trees roots stabilize the soil and prevent erosion. Trees provide food and shelter for wildlife. Trees slow down strong winds. Trees give us privacy.
