Mission Statement

To function as a catalyst to bring about changes that will aid in reducing non-point sources of pollution in Niagara County without placing undue regulatory or economic burdens upon landowners and county residents.

Committee Membership

The committee is open to all county residents and organization representatives concerned about water quality and willing to actively participate in achieving committee objectives.

Primary Committee Functions

·        To develop, implement and evaluate a county water quality strategy and review and revise it when necessary

·        To inform the public and keep them informed of issues relating to non-point source pollution as it affects them

·        To gather, compile, analyze and maintain information or data relating to non-point source pollution in Niagara County and make it accessible to the public

·        To judiciously serve the interests of the local people in protecting county water resources

·        To function as a liason between county residents and their local, state, and federal officials in matters which pertain to water quality.

Committee Reports

Each agency representative shall report to the governing body of their specific organization.  The Niagara County Legislature will be informed of committee progress.  The Soil and Water Conservation District will receive and disburse funds as required by the Niagara County Water Quality Committee.
